1966 Harley Davidson Electra glide

1966 Electra glide, second year of the electric start, first year of the shovelhead motor, original paint bike. Bike is a real stunner, runs great and would be a great addition to any collection.

Over 95% original and very few aftermarket parts.

Windshield: Stainless steel spokes: Aftermarket rims: Wiring harness: Lifter and lifter blocks – original lifters were worn so I bought a set of Velva-Touch lifters and lifter blocks from Riveria Engineering. These are one piece lifters as in new modern bikes (they are exact replica lifter blocks and an excellent upgrade to the motor. They quiet down the valve train and add performance to the engine. The push rods are Crane or Andrews adjustable (not sure which ones I got): Exhaust (I don’t think the exhaust is original): Gas caps are not original, the non-vented cap is hard to find and didn’t come with the bike. I have an original vented cap that will come with the bike.

I bought the bike in 2008 from a car and bike collector in Arizona, Randy Wilson. I had the engine and trans rebuilt by Bills Custom Cycles from Bloomsburg, PA. Bill was a Harley-Davidson dealer back in the day and lost the dealership when Harley went commercial. His shop mainly focuses on old bikes and they did an amazing job with the rebuild. You can see from the video how good the bike runs and sounds. The rest of the bike is original, engine, frame, trans, sheet metal, star hubs, carburetor (side bowl linkert), perfect stainless steel air cleaner, hand grips, floorboard rubbers, shocks, mirrors (try to find the original mirrors with Harley stamped on the stem), starter (delco remy), generator, front and real crash bars, fender bumper guards, etc. The speedometer is original tombstone but not original to the bike. The odometer and trip set works as does the speedometer but the needle moves a lot. I was told it works fine but I think it may need to be calibrated. (That’s what $400 gets you on ebay). The saddle bar guard rails are original to the period as are the saddlebags but for later 67 to 69 models. Original ignition switch and original Brigs & Stratton key. Directionals are original to the bike and work as they should. Bike has the original buddy seat in great condition. Mileage is not original to the bike. Bike comes with the original owner manual and original title.

Bike has been very well maintained, clean and has been garaged kept all its life. I haven’t registered it or ridden it since moving to Florida 5 years ago. I’m selling because I don’t ride that much anymore and it’s time to let someone else enjoy her.
