The bike is true art and the theme is all about Texas Heritage. The front fender is mounted with Texas style barbwire and reads “Don’t mess with Texans”. The bike is totally unique and definitely one of a kind with intricate detail and craftsmanship. My hat is off to the builder, the late Sonny Keeton of Beaumont Texas!
I’ve owned the Texas Star since August 2013. The bike has only been shown in a few local shows in Utah since I’ve owned it. The bike has been carefully stored and is in mint show condition. The bike will include the encased Texas Flag that was flown at the Alamo in its honor when the bike was on display there, also included is a Texas oil barrel pallet Stage that is branded with Sonny’s Logo and wired for sound with two custom built stanchions. I am also including the blueprints of the original Bowie Knife. I have many pictures of the bike during construction and at featured events on display by Sonny.
· Two- cylinder V-Twin Harley-Davidson engine
· Built by Custom Motorcycles by Sonny
· State of Texas tribute theme
· Original mural and design renderings included
· Knife replica is from Jim Bowie's Alamo knife blueprints
· Magazine and event exposure in its past
The Texas Star was created proudly by Texans and it has been seen at many Texas events where it always brings a smile to those who view it. The bike is complemented by pieces indigenous to the state and takes a while to view the intricate detail!
Even at first glance, the Texas Star is inviting and intriguing to Texans (and non-Texans alike) of all ages, regardless of their motorcycle knowledge.
The paint and artwork by Sonny Keeton are Texas all the way with gold-leaf “Texas Star” logo and its sub-title, “A rolling tribute to our home” echoes the feelings of the Keeton family, while a detailed airbrush rendering of the Alamo enhances the rear fender.
The Texas Star is accessorized with a replication of Jim Bowie’s actual knife from the Alamo. The knife was built in-house at Custom Motorcycles by Sonny from a blueprint furnished by historian Joseph Mosso, who owns the original knife. Some of the other adornments are spur-shaped front footboards, real antler rear foot pegs, solid silver Texas commemorative coins on the handlebars and rear fender. The barbed-wire brackets were fabricated by Sonny’s son, Waylon. The wheels, with classic Texas styling were designed by Sonny and machined by Ego Tripp of Lubbock. The seats are made from real Texas Longhorn hide from Amarillo Stockyards and they were hand-laced by Jason Rexrod.
Sonny’s wife, Judy, coordinated the research and interaction with historians Joe Mosso and Frank Thompson to help insure proper usage of materials and the correctness of the unique moving presentation.
This eye-catching machine has been featured in Ride Texas Magazine, Victoria Newspaper, and various television appearances, Willie Nelson and the Texas Roadhouse and Thunderpress.
